Beaverton Education Foundation Receives 2008 Crystal Award
Beaverton, Oregon –The Beaverton Education Foundation has been awarded a 2008 Crystal Award for Outstanding Event (operating budget under $500,000), - Annual BEF Phone Campaign 2007, by the Willamette Valley Development Officers. The award recognizes the Beaverton Education Foundation’s outstanding achievement in fund development and the impact it has made on the greater community. The Beaverton Education Foundation will be honored for its achievement at the 16th annual Crystal Awards Ceremony on May 16th at the Oregon Convention Center.
The Beaverton Education Foundation implemented an innovative approach to its annual phone campaign by partnering with Cricket Wireless. Cricket donated cell phones, volunteers and senior staff and programmed all of the phones with Beaverton Education Foundation as the display on caller ID screens. Cricket’s partnership, in turn, enabled the Foundation to take its calling program throughout the community in a highly visible, age appropriate and innovative way.
Community partners hosting calling nights included Platt Electric Supply, Inc, Beaverton Round, First Tech Credit Union and Beaverton Courtyard by Marriott. 500 high school students and 100 community leaders and business people participated in the event. The community-based phoning program formed the basis of a successful fund raising effort for after-school, summer and classroom programs that increase student achievement and success.
