BEF Launches New Graphic Identity
Beaverton, Oregon – Sunset High Student Grace Gao has won the Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF) Graphic Identity Design Competition. A District wide competition, the Beaverton Education Foundation challenged local high school students to design a new original graphic identity for the BEF. The Beaverton Education Foundation, established in 1988 to support strong public schools in the community by funding programs that increase student achievement and success, was looking to update its look and identity.
“We saw this as an opportunity to engage the high school students in a real life graphic design situation, integrating classroom learning with professionals working in the field. It was also a great way for the BEF to update its identity with fresh and innovative ideas”, stated Kristine Baggett, BEF Executive Director.
The review team from Studio Cue and the Global Brand Design team from Nike, donated their time and expertise to choose the winning design, give the students professional feedback and to refine the design for the Beaverton Education Foundation.
Gao’s award winning entry earned her a gift card, and the art program at Sunset High a cash award to be used to enhance the classroom experience. Finalists Shawn Dinneen and Chris Mueller, Aloha High, were also awarded gift cards and their art program a cash award.
The Beaverton Education Foundation’s new look was unveiled at a pre-performance party at the Keller Auditorium on May 29th, a part of the BEF’s Broadway for Beaverton Schools, in partnership with Broadway Across America – Portland, fund raising event.
